09. What is 144?

I wrote this a while ago, but it's appropriate to show here...

What Exactly is This Number?

This number is most important in understanding the Mayan Calendar system as well as our 'modern' system of time keeping.  It also a very important number in regards to communications...

144 is the 12th number in the Fibonacci sequence
144 is the sum of 12squared
144 as 'hours' amount to 6 days
and adding zeros...
1440 as 'minutes' amount to 1 days
144000 as 'days' amount to 1 Mayan Baktun...

Let's take a look at this number...

The Traditional Mayan Long Count Maths

Kin ..........1 x 20
Uinal.........20 x 18
Tun...........360 x 20
Katun.........7200 x 20
Baktun........144000 x 13
Great Cycle...1872000 'days'

The great cycle days amount to an approximate 5125 years and is the famous Mayan Calendar 'end' date of Winter Solstice, December 21, 2012.... these are 13 cycles of number 144000 'days'
If 1440 can be 'minutes in one day'... then

1440 'as minutes' = 1 days
14400 as 'minutes' = 10 days
144000 as 'minutes' = 100 days
1440000 as 'minutes' = 1000 days
and all together, these are 1111 days

The number 144 is also the twelfth number in the Fibonacci sequence of numbers if the first digit zero is not counted as a number. The Fibonacci sequence looks like this....

0 1 1 2 3 5 8 13 21 34 55 89 144...

If left alone, the number 144, if representing hours... would be equal to the number of hours in six modern calendar days. Adding the zero 1440 to this would create the 'seventh' day and this is also, what we happen to call a modern week as Monday through Sunday.

Here's a simple pattern which comes out of 1440 and equals the amount of days recorded to be a Venus year...'mirrored'

1 + 4 = 5
4 + 4 = 8
4 + 0 = 4

The cycle of Venus was so important to the ancient Mayan that they made it a point to also record this in their writings and monuments. Perhaps they knew better than we do today, how related these two planets really are and perhaps why we've always known Venus to be our 'twin' planet.

We've seen the math on the number 585 and Venus happens to contain just one less 'day' at 584 days

144 is also the number of a Gross.
It is used in the bible as a reference in

Revelation 14:1 (ESV)
Then I looked, and behold, on Mount Zion stood the Lamb, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father's name written on their foreheads.

Revelation 14:3-5 (ESV)
And they were singing a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and before the elders. No one could learn that song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth....

as minutes are...

1440000 = minutes in 1000 days
144000 = minutes in 100 days
14400 = minutes in 10 days
1440 = minutes in 1 day

11 11 eleven eleven 'days'  -- enough for you? ;)

144000 as days = 1 Mayan Baktun x 13 cycles = 1872000 Mayan Long Count 'days'....

It's the same as to say...
1440 x 1300 = 1872000 'days'

1872000 days / 144000 = 13 (13 x 5 = 65) x 8 = 520 and then 'flips' 1872000 / 520 = 3600
1872000 days / 14400 = 130 (130 x 5 = 650) x 8 = 5200 and then 'flips to' 1872000 / 5200 = 360 'Tun'
1872000 days / 1440 = 1300 (260 x 5 = 1300) x 8 = 10400 a half turn 1872000 / 10400 = 180 'degree'
